Gatherings
First Sundays
-
These are worship-focused gatherings that allow our network to have some corporate worship, storytelling, and a huge feast. That's it. No sermon. Nothing complicated. These gatherings feel quite a bit less like a traditional church service and more like a huge party celebrating all that God is doing across our network.
We meet every other month for Celebration Sundays at 4 PM at Salvation Army Waltham (33 Myrtle Street Waltham, MA 02453).
-
These Sundays are regional huddles where microchurches in geographic proximity meet together. They are simply about microchurches coming together to hear from one another, learn from one another, and support one another. These are always open-ended enough for microchurches and microchurch leaders to design them to help meet their contextual needs.
To find a bi-monthly location - follow our social media or the events below.

We alternate between Celebration Sundays and Equipping Sundays on a bi-monthly basis. Celebration Sundays are on odd months, and Equipping Sundays are on even months.

Why does a decentralized network of microchurches need centralized gathering spaces? Well, we hold several values as a network that are expressed in gathering:
Encouragement - We believe that the work of mission/microchurch is lonely and discouraging (especially in New England). Gathering people to encourage them and to root them on has always mattered to Renaissance.
Mutual Support - We believe that we're better together, and having space to share ideas, learn from one another, and rally around one another is important. We want to foster environments where this happens organically and intentionally.
Galvanize - We believe that gathering people (even if sporadic) does help galvanize people around a shared mission/cause. While we are decentralized in ecclesiology, we've traditionally centered ourselves on our beliefs in mission, locality, and God's work in everyday people. Having a place to remind us of these and spur us on has always mattered.
-
Renaissance strives to create intergenerational gatherings. That said, our Celebration Sundays do offer space for toddlers-early elementary school.
